OVERVIEW

The JOES (Job Options Evaluation Session) Day has been renamed the YOU Session - the aptitude test that you have to sit on this day has not changed. We will call this aptitude test that you now sit in a YOU Session test.

The YOU Session test is an aptitude test which is sat by ALL applicants to the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The vast majority of ADF applicants will only have to undertake the YOU Session test; however some specialist jobs such as Aircrew or technical trades will require further aptitude testing. Threshold minimum scores are required for various job categories and, broadly speaking, higher scores are required for the more specialist or demanding job categories.

Parents of school age applicants are welcome to meet us and view our program before deciding to commit to a course.

 

  

SELECTION PROCESS

Below is a diagram which details the ADF selection process with the role of the YOU Session test detailed. It is important to note that failure to obtain required scores results in a six month delay until you can sit the test again. This maybe particularly significant to those applicants in their final year of secondary school as it may result in them not being able to obtain a position at ADFA or Duntroon the year after leaving school.

KEY FACTORS

It is important to note that an applicant will be given a maximum of three attempts at the YOU Session test - the required pass mark being higher for the subsequent attempts. The verbal components of the PATS program have proven to be particularly beneficial to those applicants who have English as their second language.

The training program is innovative and highly developed which is reflected in our pass rate of 100% over the last 12 months and 98% in 2008.
