Overview

Below are listed some of the main airline pilot cadetships that are currently on offer. PATS is able to provide you with the skillset to pass the aptitude tests required for selection into these programs.

We are also able to purpose design a course for you if you are applying for MORE THAN ONE CADETSHIP (e.g. Jetstar/Qantas/Cathay Pacific cadetship combined course) or applying to become a military pilot as well. 

 

 


Jetstar Cadetship Pilot Program - OPEN!

 Jetstar is planning to recruit at least 100 cadet pilots per year. Successful applicants can become a First Officer flying on its modern Airbus A320 fleet of aircraft in up to 18 months only. This is not a surprising move as Jetstar have been expanding significantly - growing at around 20% per year. In its first year, Jetstar will hire up to 70 plus cadet pilots in multiple course intakes.

Jetstar has selected two preferred suppliers to deliver the cadet pilot programs - CTC Aviation and Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA). Cathay Pacific Cadetship Program - OPEN!

Cathay Pacific launched the Cadet Pilot Programme in 1988 to demonstrate its commitment to Hong Kong and equip local people with the skills needed to develop a career as a pilot with one of the world's leading airlines. The airline pays the full cost of the 14-month flying training course in Adelaide, which amounts to approximately HK$1 million, and makes a considerable investment in terms of ongoing training throughout their careers with the airline.

Cathay Pacific Cadetship program recruits 80 plus pilot cadets per year currently. The program is conducted at Flight Training Adelaide Pty Ltd in Adelaide - one of Australia's best flying schools. The course includes basic aviation knowledge, the fundamentals of visual flight, instrument flight and commercial skills, aircraft operations and so on. After passing the relevant examinations and completing 220 actual flying hours, you will receive a Hong Kong Commercial Pilot's Licence and a Hong Kong Airline Transport Pilot's Licence. Read more about Cathay Pacific Pilot Cadetship.

 

 

Dragonair Cadet Pilot Program - OPEN!  

The Dragonair has two Cadet Pilot Programs - one is for zero flying hours and the other is for above 250 flying hours.

The two Dragonair Cadet Pilot Programs are planning to recruit 30 plus pilot cadets per year. They provides all the necessary training required to enable young people to become the Airline Pilots of the future. After initial flying training, Cadets may be offered employment to join Dragonair professional crew team to operate modern Airbus fleet. Following further training, and having gained the required experience of Dragonair's operation, they will be promoted to Junior First Officers.

No flying experience is required. Applicants need to be permanent Hong Kong resident. There are several stages in the Dragonair Cadetship selection process. It consists of a mixture of interviews, medical examinations, computer aptitude tests and tests of spoken and written English. The final stage of selection is a two-week assessment of flying ability at the Flight Training Adelaide at Parafield in Adelaide, Australia.

Singapore Airlines Cadetship Program - OPEN!

Singapore Airlines Pilot Cadetship is recruiting 150 plus pilot cadets per year. It requires no commercial flying experience and is fully funded by SIA. Now the program is open to Singapore Citizen and Singapore Permanent Resident. It is highly likely to open to Malaysian Citizen soon. Also, it has been open to both HK and Indian citizens in the past and we predict this will happen again.

The cadetship program conducted at its first class flying schools in Western Australia and Queensland is world leading with selection being highly competitive. Successful candidates will spend around 16 months on training to acquire a flying licence. Full board and lodging will be provided. Once obtaining the flying licence, you will undergo further training of 1 to 2 years to become a First Officer. For more information, please refer to SIA Pilot Cadetship.

 

 

 

QantasLink Pilot Trainee Program - application window will open from 3rd to 19th September 2010 and from 3rd to 19th December 2010!

Originally commencing in 2007, the QantasLink Trainee program was designed for pilots who did not meet the Pilot Direct Entry minimum experience criteria. Since 2007, QantasLink has trained and employed more then eighty pilots through the Trainee Program.

Applicants require the following qualifications and experience:

The duration of the training will be approximately six weeks. Training will be conducted in Melbourne at the Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) . Successful graduates of the trainee program will be offered future pilot employment opportunities where available with QantasLink as Dash 8 First Officers. Qantas Cadetship Pilot Program - application likely to open around 31st July 2010!

Different from other airlines' pilot cadetship programs, Qantas offers four university and flying based programs depending on candidate's level of experience to meet their training requirements. These programs last from 6 months to 3 years, and the costs vary depending upon length of the program please refer to Qantas Cadetship Pilot Program.

Keep in mind that it always best to prepare for this program early. When Qantas conducted selection testing for this program during 2009, candidates were given notice to complete the online aptitude test within 72 hours - therefore allowing no time to complete a preparation course.

In previous years Qantas have conducted the following pilot cadetships:

PATS are expert in preparing you for the Qantas Cadetship selection test. The key is to complete your preparation early in the year. We will allow all people who complete their initial two day course before the end of May to come back for an additional two days training just before their actual test. You may also combine this program with a prep program for the Cathay Pacific Cadetship selection test.

Rex Pilot Cadetship Program - OPEN !

The Rex program is conducted by Australian Airline Pilot Academy (AAPA) at Wagga Wagga airport terminal. AAPA uses an accelerated training approach which enables motivated ab-initio student to be ready for entry into an airline as a First Officer with an Australian Commercial Pilots Licence and Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating within just 32 weeks. Etihad Airways Cadetship Program - OPEN

Etihad Airways' new cadet training program is based in Al Ain, Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The program lasts for a period of 18 months. Successful graduates are guaranteed a seat aboard modern fleet as Etihad Airways' First Officers.

Emirates National Ab-Initio Pilot Cadetship - OPEN!

With Emirates announcing two new routes into Africa, Durban and Luanda, as well as a continued push to strengthen existing routes through increased frequency, the National Cadet Pilot Training Programme will continue to recruit more pilot cadets. Emirates invests over AED 1.2 million in training each National Cadet Pilot and in the last five years has invested more than AED 100 million in the programme. Throughout their careers with Emirates these National Cadet Pilots will also receive ongoing on-the-job training in line with continual changes to aircraft technologies. 

Emirates' National Cadet Pilot Programme comprises a Foundation Course in English and Aviation Science conducted in Dubai, over about twelve months. Cadets then spend a year at Flight Training Adelaide at Parafield Airport, Australia, to gain a Commercial Pilot's License with a Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (CPL/Multi IR).
